The US Supreme Court is currently deciding whether “transgender” athletes can play on girl’s sports teams while Congress is debating whether men can get pregnant. All I have to say on the subject is:
We shouldn’t be wasting our time on this. Of course, “should” is the most useless word in politics. We are, so we must give trans-lunacy a swift execution.
More important is ICE, detainers, and illegal migration.
This is a few weeks late. I had meant to post it on the first anniversary of Debrina Kawam’s death.
Those of you outside NYC may not be aware of this incident. Debrina Kawam was a homeless woman who was burned to death by an illegal while sleeping in an idling subway car on a freezing day in December 2024, the 22nd to be exact —right around Christmas time.
Even most NYers might not remember her name, because the story passed quickly after a brief flurry of interest.
That, to me, was as shocking as the atrocity itself.
I remember the day because I had gone downtown on that bitterly cold day. I registered the “so what?” response and was puzzled.
Guys: this is not the New York City I grew up in. The city I grew up in would have been aghast. I should have known then that all my assumptions about who was going to be mayor (we were already talking about the election then) were off. Going a bit ahead here, her friends were aghast — but none of them lived in NYC, and all were, as Debrina was, aging. The white working class that formed the echo chamber of my childhood is gone. Hence the lack of response.
As the days went by, information seeped out. The whole picture added up to dystopia. A cop was filmed, sauntering by casually, as if this sort of thing was routine and he couldn’t be bothered. There was some dismayed murmuring about this but it was swept under the carpet, like all incompetence and malfeasance is nowadays.
Who committed this atrocious act? An illegal.
The NYPD made a big deal of swarming the train but didn’t publicize the fact that they were working on a tip from some teens.
Dramatic video shows NYPD officers swarming a packed Manhattan subway train to haul away the Guatemalan migrant accused of lighting on fire a sleeping subway rider and watching her burn to death.
Officers were waiting on the platform at the 34th Street–Herald Square station searching for the suspect when they pounced on him inside the jam-packed Subway car, a video shared on Instagram shows.
Two officers are seen pushing past commuters, charging at the alleged killer — who sat with his head down, possibly even sleeping.
Dramatic video, blah blah.
This is the money part:
Three high schoolers had called police to say they saw the man at the Jay and York Street station on the F line, according to Tisch and the NYPD’s Chief of Transit, Joseph Gulotta.
The New York Times ran a decent article about her upbringing (link below), and that was that.
As for the alleged murderer, what more is there to say?
In case you’re wondering, yes, there is an ICE detainer for the arsonist, which is being flouted by the city (this was under Adams, so don’t blame it on Mamdani).
Zapeta is a previously deported immigrant from Guatemala who first entered the country in June 2018. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told Fox News that it has lodged an immigration detainer with the New York City Department of Corrections for Zapeta, but the corrections department has indicated it will not honor the detainer, per its current policy. An immigration detainer is a request by ICE to take a person into its custody.
However, although I disagree with the non-compliance on principle, not handing him over to ICE is more unfavorable to the monster than if the city complied. If ICE took custody he’d be held in a relatively not-so-bad county jail. Since he’s in state custody, he’s being held without bail on multiple counts of murder and arson in Riker’s Island, the city holding pen, i.e., Hell On Earth.1
His next court appearance is on January 21, 2026:
We might get a conviction by the end of the year. Justice.
As for Debrina, or Debra as her parents named her, she had issues. She made bad choices and they contributed to why she was homeless. But anyone who reaches middle age knows that there’s an abyss waiting for all of us, and at the bottom there shouldn’t be an illegal alien with a lit match. At least, not in the US, in the year 2024. But of course, that’s exactly what was there, thanks to Joe Biden and the Democrats.
Say her name: Debra Kawam.
She didn’t shove a car into the path of a law enforcement officer. She lost her way and ended up on a subway car on a freezing day and had the misfortune of running into an illegal alien.
Say her name. Debbie. Debbie Kawam, now laid to rest in Christ The King Cemetery in New Jersey.
Beyond sickening.
I’m actually in favor of shutting it down although not for leftist reasons. They keep threatening to do that. It’s a never-ending Democrat talking point. But it won’t happen because it’s big business. A lot of people are employed there. It’s just raw meat for Democrats.

I remember this clearly. Wow. Thanks for following this.
People complain about ICE. Wait till the vigilantes -fed up with Democrat catch-and-release programs- start taking care of business.
