Nothing Matters
Nearly a month ago I wrote an ostensibly mournful post, It’s Their Country Now. I didn’t mean for it to be a downer; quite the opposite. I meant the post simply as a years-after-the-fact tribute to Larry Auster, an acknowledgement of his courage and prescience, but also as a call to arms. You can’t take effective action until you know where you are on the battlefield. So much energy is wasted discussing things that are tangential.
Then I shut up (except for a Father’s Day tribute), because something was bugging me, holding me back.
Yesterday that “something” surfaced. Call it whatever you want, but don’t call it a return of the repressed because I swear I’ve never felt this way. This is new. Here goes:
Nothing we do will affect the course of the American Empire (the “GAE”, “Globohomo”). Any pol above the local level (that is, either house of Congress or the Presidency) is locked into the Military Industrial Complex and the Military Industrial Complex is the Empire. Military + Industrial are inextricably intertwined, like DNA helices.
Think any president is going to go against this? Of course not. If Trump couldn’t begin to make a dent in it, no president will.
Believe me, I understand the institutional pressure Trump was up against—but doesn’t this prove my point?
Not to mention, the Republican party is full of idiots who posture belligerently about China. The Democrats hate Russia, the Republicans hate China. It all adds up to the same thing: blame some foreign bogeyman to distract from our own ineptitude and social problems, which are entirely of our own making.
Even the supposedly great Tucker Carlson attacks China for… what? Putting ships in the South China sea? I’m not sure. At this point, I’m really not keeping up on who cheerleads for what war.
Trump was broken as much by lack of support from his own party as he was by the Democrats. He was given zero help from the Republicans in those crucial early months before taking office when a staff is put together. To be fair, he may have refused help. Hard to say. Another reason I can’t support him, as he’s shown no evidence of having developed the ability to listen to smart people. But it’s also an institutional problem. We don’t have wise elites.
I remember Reagan’s first two months—they were incredible! He was slowed down by an assassination attempt (getting shot is no fun for anybody, much less a 70-year-old man) but even at reduced capacity he was more functional than Trump, that prince of dysfunction and chaos.
But this failure isn’t due to one anarchic personality. Ron De Santis wouldn’t change a thing. Nor, would Kennedy, who doesn’t have a chance. It’s due to the implacability of the Empire.
Which can only be defeated by the forces of history. Which act in mysterious ways.
And it will be. Globohomo will fall.
Everything is working out as “Der Alter1” decrees.
I’m 99% sure that a Democrat not named Kennedy will be elected to the presidency in November 2023 . And that’s fine. At first, in the “I’m being bugged by something” stage (see above) I was miserably reconciled to this eventuality, but now I welcome it.
You break it, you own it. This disaster (a combination of Neoconartist foreign policy and pseudo-civil rights cannibalism) is a bipartisan creation but right now the neocon party is the Democrats and for the most part, they are the creators of the Ukraine disaster and yes, I know about McCain and Graham, but this is Joe’s war.
The Neoconartists taken up permanent residence among the Democrats, refashioning themselves as proponents of woke.2 I don’t even want a Republican in power in 2024. I want the Republican party to crack up. This is progress and sometimes progress is deceptive. But at the end of the day, this has nothing to do with what I want. It’s what I think will be. Get used to it. What I’m saying here is: this is good. Don’t fight the medicine.
Americans aren’t interested in what goes on in the rest of the world plus the regime feeds them propaganda, so American normies don’t know this but the majority of the world’s population sympathizes with Russia, not NATO—maybe they don’t like the military operation but they acknowledge the provocations that led up to it. (And some of them do like the military operation.) They hate our bullying, they see through our obsession with regime change, they’re onto the color revolutions, and they loathe the LGBTQ ideology.
And when they get the chance, they opt for China. Look at Saudi Arabia and Iran. They hate each others’ guts but they cut a deal brokered by China because they want the US out of their hair.
I’m not saying this is solely due to LGBTQ, it’s economic. The Chinese are outclassing us in terms of building infrastructure around the world. But LGBTQ is a symbol with substance and a niggling insult, a rend in the delicate cultural fabric. No country ever wants a foreign power interfering in such matters.
There’s even a goddamn Chinese-built port in HAIFA,3 something I discovered right after the Afghanistan disengagement—I was completely shocked. (That was a time of compounding shocks.)
No one talks about that. The Israelis are planning for a post-US-hegemon run world. They’d better. Once the unbelievably philo-Semitic Putin is gone and the US has slipped into complete disarray they’ll be on their own. They’re worried about this. They should be.
The last pillar to fall will be in the hegemon’s own bloc and no one can possibly predict what the first domino will be but wouldn’t it be bizarre if it were the “United Kingdom”? Anthony Burgess predicted an Islamic Britain and everyone said, “Oh that Tony Burgess and his crazy ideas” but he was pretty good at predicting things.4 (Better at prediction than actual novel-writing, but still…)
I don’t know what it will take, but it will happen. I personally don’t think that LGBTQ ideology is enough of a motivator. It irritates conservatives (including me) but it’s not something that in isolation will actually cause a country to tell Uncle Sam to fuck off. (Unless Britain becomes run by Muslims. Then, it might happen.)
It’s amazing the amount of shit that people will put up with. Even economic collapse doesn’t necessarily cause people to go for radical change. That, I believe, is a myth. In Russia and Germany there were so many other factors. In Russia it was war, an inadequate tsar, lots of foreign meddling, and an endemic history of instability.5 I don’t have to describe the instability in Germany after WW1. There’s a long way between having to pay a bit more for gas and a revolution. No gas… another story.
Upshot: I don’t know which of the hegemon’s satrapies will begin to chafe under Globohomo but I don’t think they’re going down with the ship.
Nor do I think that the US is going to pick a fight with China. We’re not that insane—plus we depend on them for raw materials that enable us to fight Russia! We’re going to fight them over Taiwan? Nonsense. We’ll just betray Taiwan when convenient. We’re good at betrayal.
But Behave As If It Does
I’m not telling you to knuckle under, I’m advising that you pick your battles. Some things are inviolable.
Naturally, if you have a daughter you don’t want some guy to wave his dick in her face in the locker room. You fight against this. Fight like hell. Never give in. Never!
But fight on the local level. Yes, they may have national or even international implications but that’s not your concern. You fight for you and yours.
(Needless to say but I have to say it that the distinction between local and national vanishes if the Empire institutes a draft. I firmly believe that the importation of millions of migrants is so that they can use them in the military—to kill Americans.)
Fight for your town, your block, your school, your neighborhood, your neck of the woods. That’s worth fighting for in and of itself but here’s the real reason: you’re creating institutions that will take over when Globohomo bites the dust. There has to be something in place after the Empire falls.
This is not the silly Benedict Option which neurotic nincompoop Rod Dreher fabricated for an advance when he was a Catholic.6 It’s a sober realpolitik realization in the Larry Auster mode. Know your battlefield position. Don’t waste lives in a fruitless Pickett’s charge.
We must be as wise as a serpent, innocent as a dove.7 Because we really are sheep among wolves.
You wouldn’t be a decent person if you weren’t terribly sorry for the kids caught up in this vortex of insanity known as gender ideology but I refuse to be distracted by it. Lost souls are the way of the world. It’s all a giant aptitude test. Focus on the survivors, I say.

Fair enough but let’s hope that intelligent people inherit what’s left and try to create a wiser, humbler civilization on the ruins of the last. When will we know that we’re free? When you can dump a “Pride” flag in the bin, like any other piece of trash.

Which must be driving the still-breathing (with a ventilator? he’s 93) Norman Podhoretz even crazier than he already is, and causing Irving Kristol to spin in his grave!
I’m not 100% sure how all this worked out but the Americans didn’t like that Chinese port so the Indians got cut in with the idea that they’d be proxies for Uncle Sam. But how? India is tacitly pro-Russia. Everything seems to be breaking China’s way and against the GAE. Speaking of India, a short year ago we were warning of “consequences” for their Ukraine stance. Now Biden is kissing Modi’s butt.
We’re the first joke Empire in history.
Also, we’re exporting jet engine technology to India. Some consequences!
For example, in one of his lesser-read books, The Wanting Seed, he predicted a Malthusian world divided into three blocks: Enspun, Chinspun, and Ruspun, run by homosexuals.
Really — Americans think of pre-revolutionary Russia as static but it wasn’t. Even if you restrict yourself to Romanov history the country was endemically unstable, with assassinations and huge social changes. The tsar freed 23 million serfs by an edict, and that was an earthquake.
Dreher, who has been through more religions than Madonna has been through costume changes, has now divorced and scrammed to Hungary. He’ll be back; Americans never leave for long, especially to a place like Hungary with its impenetrable language. If you want to read something intelligent about the problems of reconciling capitalism and Christianity, you could do better.
Unlike Trump, who was as wise as a dove, and as innocent as a serpent. Forget Trump and move on.
