I served in the Kirya and throughout my service there (I was later transferred to an anti-aircarft artillery unit), I visited the Pit many times.
The American Left is dangerous and corrosive. The Israeli Left far more so. That's what explains - among MANY MANY other things - the softening of the Hannibal directive. I don't need to tell you how precarious Bibi's political sitiation is. The Left mobilizes in huge numbers and often paralyzes crucial military decision processes
The same exact hubris was evident in October 1973. I recall every detail of that day: the sudden onslaught of multiple divisions of Egyptian and Syrian armies and the confusion of the first 24 hours. Back then, the hubris stemmed from the incredible, almost miraculous success of the 6 Day War. Dayan and the security aparatus felt invincible - until Yom Kippur, the early afternoon of October 6, 1973 when we were literally minutes away from the Egyptian Air Force strafing Tel Aviv. Do yourself a favor and watch VALLEY OF TEARS - an astoundingly well made (and factually precise) account of the Syrian front between October 6 - October 12 (approx), 1973. Fouda is great, Valley of Tears is better
On October 7 Hamas did something calculated to provoke Israel into an enraged response. Then they took hostages whose purpose was to thwart that response. Now Israel is in a war with two completely antithetical goals: get the hostages back, and destroy Hamas.
I don't think Israel can do #2 in any case without committing a true genocide, Hamas is like the Viet Cong, but you certainly can't do both at the same time.
It's not just the left - was Rabin really a leftist? He gave in to Miriam Groff in the Jibril deal. It got so bad they traded 1100 terrorists for one soldier! Sorry not sorry but if you're in that part of the world you have to toughen up & present a Spartan face to your enemies. Israel signals its weaknesses & then wonders why this shit happens.
If Russia backed Israel they'd go into Gaza & Grozhny it. But they don't.
Fine, was Netanyahu, when he traded 1100 ghouls (among them, the lovely Ahlam Tamimi who blew up 15 kids in a Jlem pizza shop.
Agree w/you about leftists. Maybe Iran & its proxies will finish the job but these guys started it. I keep working on something about them but I can't finish it.

Well, it happened, so now what?

Yes, Rabin was really a leftist
