I served in the Kirya and throughout my service there (I was later transferred to an anti-aircarft artillery unit), I visited the Pit many times.

The American Left is dangerous and corrosive. The Israeli Left far more so. That's what explains - among MANY MANY other things - the softening of the Hannibal directive. I don't need to tell you how precarious Bibi's political sitiation is. The Left mobilizes in huge numbers and often paralyzes crucial military decision processes

The same exact hubris was evident in October 1973. I recall every detail of that day: the sudden onslaught of multiple divisions of Egyptian and Syrian armies and the confusion of the first 24 hours. Back then, the hubris stemmed from the incredible, almost miraculous success of the 6 Day War. Dayan and the security aparatus felt invincible - until Yom Kippur, the early afternoon of October 6, 1973 when we were literally minutes away from the Egyptian Air Force strafing Tel Aviv. Do yourself a favor and watch VALLEY OF TEARS - an astoundingly well made (and factually precise) account of the Syrian front between October 6 - October 12 (approx), 1973. Fouda is great, Valley of Tears is better
